As I was supervising the unpacking of the box, I realized why he smelled so good – the box was full of antlers!  Antlers are one of my favorite things to chew on and these are brand new fresh from the farm…….some even have velvet still on them…….Yummmmmmy!  And then my friend Jim came by from flyball – I get so excited when my flyball teammates come see me at my job.  He came in to get his dog Chica some Clear AllerQi to help her with her itchy skin – I use to have red,  itchy skin this time of year and it really helped me.  I hope it makes her feel better too.

Hi Everyone!  I just wanted to tell you all how much I missed being at the store this past weekend, but that I had a great Flyball tournament in St. Petersburg.  Mom said I ran perfectly!  And I also earned my Flyball Master Champion title and received a really cool ribbon with a flat tennis ball in the middle – but Mom hung it on the wall so I can’t take the  ball out.  Michelle told me I missed one of my favorite friends on Friday, and on Monday too.  I just love it when people come in to see me.  I even have friends who work in this shopping center who come play with me almost every day.  I can’t imagine what I used to do all day long before I got to come to work.

My name is Gypsy and in my spare time while I am not busy helping customers I thought I would write about my adventures and experiences during my days at Amy’s Natural Pet Pantry. Many of you who shop regularly at the store know me, and any of you who don’t please come by and meet me.    I am also called “Miss Wiggles” or “Wiggle Butt”  or “Gypsy Rosalie.”  I am the official greeter and I love to show everyone my toys.  I don’t really want you to take my toy…..although sometimes I will let you have it…..I just really enjoy showing you what I have (and maybe hoping you will chase me).  I really, really love my job and all of the people that come in to see me.  I am a rescue dog.  I came from a great group called  Canine Castaways ( www.caninecastaways.org ),  who saved me from Animal Control after they had picked me up as a stray.   I am a lucky girl that Canine Castaways gave me a chance and that my mom Lisa adopted me from them about 5 years ago.    Today we have been busy getting things ready for a Flyball tournament that my team the Barkaholics are hosting in St. Petersburg this weekend.   Fin (my adopted little sister) and I do this really fun dog sport called Flyball.  It’s like relay racing for a tennis ball over jumps. The active ingredients are naturally blended minerals from the Dead Sea.   We also have several new biodegradable brands of  poop bags coming in – one is even made of tapioca!    One of our most exciting “finds” at Global was USA made and sourced cat toys from Vee Enterprises out of Los Angeles, CA.  They have some very cool cat wands……. and a toy for dogs that looks like a giant cat wand………which are great for interactive play with your dogs and cats.   Cycle Dog is a very cool line of reclaimed bicycle innertube collars and  accessories for the eco-minded dog out of Portland OR – where lots of cool things come from!  We also now have an expanded selection of USA made collars and leashes by Yellow Dog Design – including some fun nautical and beachy themes for summer.  For those problem-solvers out there we have the Nina Ottosson line of puzzles for dogs and cats – Gypsy or Fin will be glad to demonstrate them for you (Harry hasn’t figured them out yet).  So come in soon and check out all of our fun new items.

If you have a dog or cat that is afraid of fireworks please be careful and make sure that they cannot hurt themselves, or run away during the celebration.  If you need any recommendations please call us or come by the store….it does not have to be a stressful night….there are things that will help.

Please come by the store and check out our “Giving Tree” to benefit the dogs and cats of Satchel’s Last Resort  ( www.satchelslastresort.com)  This is how it works.  In the store we have a tree full of ornaments with pictures of the dogs and cats of Satchel’s.  On the back of the ornament is a request (consider it a suggestion) for a gift for that animal.  When you purchase an item for that animal, you get to take the ornament home for your tree, or refrigerator, or wherever you want to keep it as a “Thank You” for supporting a shelter pet.  We are also accepting general donations like bleach, contractor bags, dish washing liquid, etc.  for general use at the shelter.  Everything is very much appreciated and needed.  We will personally deliver the items to the dogs and cats and will post pictures after Christmas of what we hope to be a Very Merry Christmas for them.  We want to thank each of you for you continued support of the store (and our causes) throughout the year.
